In 1957 John and Eunice were expecting another child when they moved with Dick, Bob and Laurie to 242 Savage Hill rd in Berlin Connecticut. The house was built in 1752, according to the sign on the corner of the house. It was a large farm house with an ell that had been put on about 100 years before. There were two apartments in the ell. John Shryock was listed living at 242 Savage Hill Road in Berlin, Connecticut in the 1957 and 1958 New Britain City Directories.

Once again in 1960 John and Eunice moved with their 4 children, Dick, Bob, Laurie and David from Savage Hill Road to a brand new home that they had bought at 96 Millbrook Rd, Meriden, Connecticut. The new house was in a development that was just being built. They were one of the first families to move in. [CM].

He and Eunice Holloway Shryock resided at Meriden, Connecticut between 1960 and 1963. He was listed as a salesman on the 1961 Meriden City Directory; Salesman.

The Shryock family moved to Cape Elizabeth, Maine in August of 1963. John had taken a job with an appliance wholesaler named Vaughan Electric earlier that year and had commuted between Maine and Connecticut on weekends. So when August came the moving company came and moved the family to Maine. On the first night in Maine, Dick and Bob stayed in the new house at 6 Crescent View Avenue, while the rest of the family stayed at Grace and George Stevenson's home. [CM].


John William Shryock died Tuesday, 2 December 1980, at Westbrook, Cumberland County, Maine at age 64.

His obituary appeared in the Portland Press Herald on 4 December 1980 at Portland, Cumberland County, Maine. As listed in the obituary, John was survived by his father,Robert Stanley Shryock, his wife, Eunice Harriett Holloway, his sons, John Richard Shryock, Robert James Shryock, David William Shryock, his daughter, Laurie Virginia Shryock . The following is a transcription of that obituary:

WESTBROOK -- John William Shryock, 64 of 21 Hamlet Coach Park, formerly of Gorham died at his home Tuesday. He was born in Lawrenceburg, Ky., son of Robert S and Frances Elliott Shryock. He attended Louisville Ky., schools. Mr Shryock was a salesman for several years for the Rich Plan Food in Scarborough. He was a member of the Masons of New Britain Conn. He was a Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Eunice Holloway Shryock of Westbrook; his father of (sic) Braunsfield Texas; Three Sons, J Richard of Falmouth, Robert J of Readfield, Mass and David W. of Westbrook; a daughter, Mrs William (Laurie) Latham of Portland; a half brother, Robert of Ohio; and a grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Neal and York Funeral Home, 76 State St., Gorham.

Robert Stanley Shryock was born to Annie Rebecca and Woodford County Shryock on Tuesday, 7 February 1893, in Lawrenceburg. Anderson County, Kentucky. Robert Stanley Shryock was the son of Woodford County Shryock and Annie Rebecca Jones. Robert had been a sharp shooter in the Barnum & Baily Circus.
